4.2 - "What's Reality, Papa?"
What makes up the bubble of temporal reference we call the human condition, the ego, and its perception of its surroundings? The previous chapter states that every BTR has a set of laws/truths that are applicable to the BTR. With a set of laws/truths matrix, comes realities2 and another matrix of relationships. A change in sets of truths, changes the reality.
The human BTR will be clearer if we look at the realities involved. We could get lost if we try to examine the myriad of truths that are applicable to the human BTR. When we look at realities, we are looking at matrices of truths -- this helps to keep things relatively simple.
The first reality to look at is Absolute Reality. In Theorem 12D it is stated that Absolute Reality is an effect of Absolute Truth. It sustains, and is at the very core, of Creation's existence. Creation is an effect of the Truth Matrix while Absolute Reality is the effect of Absolute Truth, so Creation is Absolute Reality.
Perceptions on the physical level involve the laws of physics -- the truths that determine physical form. This begins with the five basic levels of BTR interactions -- gravity, electromagnetic force, nuclear -- both strong and weak, and life force.3 In addition, physics covers the basic laws of mechanics, thermodynamics, harmonic motion, etc. As in these science laws, Absolute Reality is not directly perceivable. We can only perceive its effects. The effects of the laws of physics are observed objectively and are at the core of all subjective data, yet they involve both the objective and subjective -- if that does not confuse you, nothing will.
Metaphysical references to an Absolute Reality are the spiritual, psychic, and mental and emotional laws. Through them work the mechanics of the God-Creation relationship. These laws are at the very core of our being, just as physical laws are at the very core of our physical bodies.
These laws are happening everywhere, every when, and have the potential to be happening all at the same time. Again, this is the same for the laws of motion, of thermodynamics, of harmonics, of gravity, and of quantum mechanics -- all are potentially everywhere, at once. There are no bubbles of temporal reference in Absolute Reality -- because it is Eternal. However, BTRs cannot exist without Absolute Reality.
So, what is the first thing that's happening?
Absolute Reality. The five basic Realities are:
- Absolute Reality - God's Truth, Laws of Creation, and laws of physics
- Actual Reality - BTRs
- Individual Reality - a BTR that contains a human matrix
- Consensual Reality - a reality BTR comprised of a number of human BTRs
- Imaginary Reality - untrue BTRs
Absolute Reality contains actual reality. Actual reality contains individual, consensual, and imaginary realities. Individual reality contains consensual and imaginary realities.4 Within individual reality, the borders between the other realities become blurred. An individual reality can be comprised of a hodgepodge of the other realities. This is why I will cover this reality, its BTRs, and its matrix last.
Language is an excellent example of how these realities become blurred. Symbolic communication -- even though it originates in the individual and consensual realities -- can be involved in all five realities. With the following definitions, I will show how communication or language does this.
Absolute Reality. The reality that cannot be directly perceived, that is eternally constant, and the primary cause of all other realities. Without Absolute Reality, none of the other realities can exist. As with everything else, communication needs Absolute Reality to exist. From the laws of physics perspective, nothing physical is possible without these laws.
The second reality is actual reality. This is the reality of all form -- physical form specifically (and the BTRs that make up physical form). It is an effect of the Absolute Reality. To use physical references, the BTRs that are grass, galaxies, goldfish, and the kitchen sink are all forms. They are all actualities, part of actual reality. These actualities come in many different shapes or sizes, in different times, in a multitude of spaces. But, they all have the Absolute Reality in common, which comprises the laws of nature and of form.
Or else, they wouldn't be here?
Right. This is everything that we physically see and hear. Actual reality is what many people consider being reality. However...
It's really a derivative of Absolute.
Right. The physical is as I said, everything: grass, galaxies, paper bags, pencils, doughnuts, toilet paper, whatever.
Actual reality consists of the BTRs. Remember from Chapter 3 that all the BTRs we are familiar with are really bubbles, within bubbles, within bubbles, etc. Each bubble contains a matrix relationship, which makes for matrices within matrices, within matrices, and so on. Actual reality consists of a constant flow or dance in changes of these forms, BTRs, or matrix relationships.
For example: in physical form nothing endures, whether it's mountains, trees, or stars. It's a dance of temporal forms (BTRs), weaving in and out of relationships with one another. They are interdependent and interrelated to each other on the physical level. On the symbolic level, we can only hold the symbol (a BTR) for a BTR so long in our own awareness. We can only think a thought for so long; the thought has a beginning and end.5 Or, speaking a word, the word does not go on forever.
Symbol systems can come and go. The words meaning "run" or "rotten" 3000 years ago in Assyria may not exist today. We have different symbols to mean the same thing. For example, we now have the symbol 3, which is Arabic. Two thousand years ago, this number was represented by three vertical lines in the Roman system. Other peoples had different symbols for the number three. They still are symbolic forms of an actuality (the concept 'three').
On all actual reality levels: metaphysical forms, physical forms, symbolic form, thoughts and feelings -- the temporal forms come and the temporal forms go. They are all bubbles of temporal reference.
In terms of communication, actual reality is necessary as the medium or vector for communication. There must be air and specific movements of air for the spoken word. There must be a light transmitter and a light receiver for any visual communication. Something must serve as a vector for an idea to be communicated, like radio frequency electromagnetics.
Even psychic communication is dependent on the One mind for a communication to exist.6 Most perception of psi phenomena is a form of actual reality mechanics.
What is psi phenomena?
Psi phenomena means psychic phenomena. Psychic phenomenon is a form of actual reality; it is referenced to actual BTRs. For example: having a psychic experience this tree is going to fall on Tuesday and then it happens. That is an actuality in a metaphysical form.
Psychic phenomenon tends to be physically form (BTR) related. It usually is information that has an association on the physical level -- a physical event or change. For example, I am going to win the lottery on Thursday.
It's like our dreams, then. Right?
Yes, somewhat, but psychic is in reference to an actuality (physical BTR). Whereas, dreams may or may not come true. When it's psychic, it does come true.7 It is related to an actual physical form. In a dream, we can dream we picked a flower, and it turned into a porcupine. True, dreams tend to be images from our waking conscious put in -- what appears to our conscious -- a disjointed manner. Psychic can manifest in this manner also.
How do we know what is psychic?
Because it turns out actual in the end.
So psychic is always true?
Yes, generally speaking, otherwise it would not be psychic.
Psychic is information that has some relationship to a physical actuality (BTR event), whether in the future or in the past. Geomancy8 is a psychic skill where, instead of picking up something that will happen in the future, the operator holds something (like a rock) and may perceive an event in the past. Psychic has to do with something that actually existed (a physical BTR event) either in the past, present, or future. This will be covered in depth in Chapter 7.
Here we are also getting into mental and emotional forms (non-physical BTRs) that have objective actualities such as the thought: tree; the thought: jump; the thought: run. These are forms, too. We, as beings, have mental and emotional forms, as well as our physical forms, and they make up an individual reality. However, most of these mental and emotional forms are constructed forms and are put together from other realities. The construct that we put together is of our own creation, even though what we are putting together becomes actual for us.
Language can fit into actual reality in another way. Actual reality also occurs as accurate symbolic communication. In true speaking, as with mathematics, there is an accurate symbolic representation of an actual form -- the tree, the bush, the pencil, three, etc. Saying the word is an actuality, the voice and the vibration is an actuality of oral communication, as well as the word itself having an actual objective reference. Do you understand what I am saying?
Actuality of what?
The word tree is based on an actual item, a tree.
Based on Absolute Reality.
Right. We are using different laws of harmonics -- from the resonant cavities in our head to tightening the vocal cords to produce different pitches and tones in our voice. However, the true speaking must represent an actuality outside the speaker. For example: I say the tree, and there has got to be a tree that I am referring to. What is not an actual reality thought is saying, "The sun is not yellow, it's chicken!"9
The voices in my head are not actual reality?
Especially, the one that tells you to give your boss a haircut with a chainsaw.
Again, I say, the time reference of actual reality is not relevant. For instance, we can talk about some symbol of the past or of the future. However, the word or symbol must have an accurate reference apart from the individual at some other time. True communication is based on this reality. ("Promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you God?")
Individual reality is our personal bubble of temporal reference. Our BTR has a human truth matrix relationship in it. Our human matrix's programming we call personality. Individual reality manifests as a relationship of the human matrix to its BTR. This chapter will be covering the human matrix in depth later, so I will be brief here.
As actual reality determines the vector of communication (aural, visual, electromagnetic, and psychic), individual reality determines the use and mode of communication. It determines what symbol system will be used (language, mathematics, body language, etc.). In addition, it determines the arrangement of symbols -- the message.
Communication is an interaction between human BTRs (singular or in sets).
Up to this point, we have covered Absolute Reality, actual reality, and individual reality. Next one to look at is consensual reality. Consensual reality is the reality of agreement; of a consensus. It occurs when a group of people assembles, and agrees something is real. Then, it becomes real for them. For example: all social, political, cultural laws, mores, etc., are aspects of consensual reality.
The problem with a consensual reality is that if someone disagrees, the 'reality' falls apart. That person can be considered a threat to the consensual reality. When that happens, a person can be nailed to a tree, given a cup of hemlock, put to the torch, etc. This is usually done with the intention of preserving the status quo (that consensual reality).
Some significant factors that determine the natures of consensual realities are:
- Geography: where you are in the world, the solar system, or in the galaxy.
- Time: whether an individual is at a time when man is a hunter-gatherer or today. Hunter-gatherer societies had a totally different consensual reality than we have now.
- How much Absolute Truth is involved within the agreement: the more Absolute Truth within the agreement, the more solid the consensual reality is.
Consensual reality can be considered a gestalt of individuals' realities (BTRs). It is within consensual reality that communication symbols and symbol systems are borne. In truth, communication can not exist without a consensual reality. What is there to talk about if no one is around? An agreement must be made on definition and arrangement of these symbols. If there is no agreement, then the communication will be distorted (if it happens at all).
Teacher: "One and one is two."
Student: "Right, one and one is two! Wow, cool man, one and one is two! What's a two?"10
A consensual reality can be a combination of Absolute, actual, individual, and it can be an aspect of imaginary -- all at the same time.
Couldn't individual also be?
Yes, we are getting to that. As I said, it's a gestalt of a group of individual realities.
But individual doesn't always come from consensual -- it might parallel it.
Usually it does. Some of the first things we learn from our parents are based on a consensual reality; language for example. Consensual reality is a major variable of our individual reality (a major matrix-programming factor). How worried we are about the policeman in the car behind us. What our neighbors think about us, that kind of thing.
Individual reality is a combination of all the others; Absolute and actual are the laws of physical reality and the physical forms themselves. The Absolute and actual make up the physical survival level of the individual's bubble of temporal reference. Unless we actively participate in Absolute/actual reality, we would not exist or be able to survive. We would not eat, breath, stay warm, that kind of thing. Absolute/actual consist of all that is true within and without of us.
Individual reality's interaction with actual reality is based on a perceptual window that uses six senses -- the five physical senses, and the one metaphysical sense (ESP). Later in this chapter, we will address the physical sense perception mechanism, and in a later chapter discuss the sixth sense.
Consensual and imaginary realities may have no objective existence outside of the human condition (human BTRs). They both are derived from the people that have influenced us, who and where we hang out, with group beliefs, choices, etc.
The last reality to be defined in this section is imaginary reality. Imaginary reality is taking actual symbolic realities and arranging them so they do not convey an actuality. A true symbolic communication, as in math, has direct actualities outside the communicated or spoken. If I say three, there is a concept three outside of whatever language I use.
The opposite of this is a symbolic representation that has no reference to any actuality anywhere, like: "The sky was yellow, and the sun was blue."11 Imaginary reality can be expressed in a form of symbolic communication, but this communication is not an accurate representation of the BTRs symbolized.
That nobody else believes but me?
No, that is not necessarily true. These imaginary realities can be shared, like with that fantasy book. In fact, a consensual reality can have elements of shared imaginary realities. It does not make any difference if one person believes it, or many, they are both imaginary realities. It's not limited to one person's belief.
Note again the pattern or parallels here. Absolute Reality determines actual reality. Actual realty (physical BTRs) determines the individual reality (BTR). Also, within individual reality there may be consensual and imaginary realities. Also notice, from true speech comes fantasy; untruth comes from truth; and imaginary numbers come from real numbers. There is a relationship here -- a pattern is starting to form. One is an offshoot of the other; one springs from the other. Imaginary reality can also manifest as an inaccurate use of symbolic representation in reference to actual BTRs. That means mixing a little truth with untruth and twisting things.
I caught a fish and it was really only five inches but it looked like it was ten inches.
Right. He: "It was thaaaaaaaaat big!"
She: "Liar, it slipped through the holes of the net!"
In imaginary reality, there is a discrepancy between the symbolic use and the actualities involved. It's not accurate -- fantasy, illusion, delusion, etc. In imaginary reality, there can be a conflict in terms. In many ways, the very term imaginary reality is a conflict in terms.
Imaginary reality can also include fiction books, deception, politics, most dreams, and a significant amount of entertainment. In all of these, there is some form of actuality involved. The actualities can be put together in inaccurate sequences or they can be assembled to give the illusion of one thing when it's really another. For example: looking at a movie and seeing a city of an old civilization, when in truth it is just a painted backdrop behind the actors.
Returning to the language/communication reference and all the realities. With Absolute reality, the laws of Creation allow communication to be possible.
Actual reality has two language references: one is the physical/metaphysical vector of communication (sound, light, psychic, etc.). In addition, it usually is an accurate symbolic reference to an existing BTR (symbols are in reference to actualities).
Individual reality chooses the vector, symbol system, and content of the communication.
Consensual reality determines symbol systems and the symbol's meanings.
Imaginary reality is composed of an inaccurate symbolic reference to an existing BTR, or a symbolic reference to non-existing BTRs. It is the realm of fantasy and illusion.
Communication is an interaction between two individual realities. It is the act of sharing ideas. It is very similar to two molecules sharing an electro-magnetic photon (one's pitching and one's catching). At times the communication can be one way, as in the relationship between author and reader, or a sun going nova and its orbiting planets. At other times, an idea can leave an individual reality, be received and absorbed by the catching reality, and that individual reality responds to the original with another idea. This is done through a consensual reality. A physics parallel could be heat distribution within a material. This interaction we call two way communication.
An idea is an extension of a matrix,12 specifically the matrix of a human BTR within an individual reality. The talker is extending part of their mind to another person. The listener's matrix perceives the idea through a symbol system, correlates it to their matrix, and makes an extension of their own. They respond with an idea of their own and the roles are reversed. This, of course, is the ideal situation. We all know that communication does not operate that cleanly.
What limits this exchange is the symbol system (words), vector mediums (clarity), and the perceptions of the respective individual matrices, which must be in some kind of agreement (shared realities). The perceptual windows of their individual matrices must see the same thing.
Try talking about advanced management techniques to a two-year-old.
To conclude this section: there are five basic reality categories. To tie the realities to earlier material, remember the concepts involved with Postulates 3 and 4. Specifically, the concept of 'logic contains a matrix of truths/laws'. The following is the list of realities with the logic and truths/laws involved:
- Absolute - Logic of God (Truth/Laws of Creation)
- Actual - Logic of physical (truths/laws of science)
- Individual - Logic of the combination of all of the above (truth/laws of being)
- Consensual - Logic of agreement (truths/laws of Man)
- Imaginary - Logic of illogic (untruths/laws of fantasy)
