Chapter 8
Concerning Music
Applications
There are many ways to apply the material of the previous chapters on a daily basis, without stopping to meditate. One way is to do the exercises while the student is waiting for something, like the phone, or if stuck in traffic, etc. Any situation that requires one to just sit and wait can be used. As mentioned earlier, I learned to apply many of these exercises while in the army. There were many times the military had me waiting. I could be playing inside my head and nobody around me had any inkling of what I was doing.
One application can be when driving long distances or driving in areas that are familiar. The student can be empty and waiting, while guiding the vehicle. Recognizing and applying there should be no thought can help cultivate the intuition ... No thought! (Well... minimal thought, anyway.)
Sports are another way to be empty of mind. Focus must be total on the whole situation. Using the exercises in other applications is going to significantly affect the daily consciousness, or individual awareness. One point focus combined with a single encompassing desire and a perception of the whole system, i.e. golf, archery, surfing, skiing, pool, produces effects. The metaphysical student will also find that when they start using these things daily that there is a direct relationship between thinking and 'screwing up'. When the individual leaves the one point focus of the external event and starts working with their internal event, they tend to blow it. Their focus becomes split.
This cannot be stressed enough: Until you take your daily internal disciplines into everyday life -- whatever disciplines you have -- it won't mean a thing. You need to learn to take it 'to the street'.
I was going to say that there are times when I've done driving like that, and I'm amazed afterwards that I got safely from one place to another, because I have no memory of it.
When you talk about splitting the focus, that is a thinking thing, but another way of doing that is dancing...
I'll cover dancing later in this chapter. The driving thing relates to what is already in your programming and storage (also known as the subconscious) and working with direct cognition. Cognition is doing the driving, while the Perceptional Lens Array is working in a peripheral vision mode.
This means the lens is not focused on anything in particular. It allows both an objective event and a subjective event through the lens array. It's equivalent to looking past someone and not focusing the eyes on anything in the foreground or the background. Yet, there is cognition of what is before you, and at the same time subjective events (mental/emotional sets) are allowed through the lens array.
As with the eyes example, if focus becomes localized on either the foreground or background (objective or subjective event) the other has a restricted passage through the lens array.
There are many daily applications where this material can be used. The imagination and motivations of the individual are the only limit applications.
If motivations are orientated to the whole -- whatever the metaphysical student chooses -- the inclusiveness of God's Love will use whatever they set up. They need to be aware that there are mechanics involved -- relationships and connections. The inclusiveness of God's Love allows the individual to work out the details of their own personal applications using the specific mechanics and relationships. There are many ways to build a house. Yet, every house must obey the laws of physics.
This arrangement allows us to custom design our own spiritual trip. All spiritual trips use the same mechanics. The individual changes the constructs and how they are applied -- the forms. The end point is the same. Love dictates that we will be aware of our union with God. It's a closed system.1
Since not being with God means pain, it's just a question of time. How long do we want to be spiritual masochists? Whether it's one lifetime or 50,000 lifetimes. From an Eternal reference point, it doesn't make any difference how long an individual wants to take to do this. The temporal end will be the same.
What do you mean, not being at one with God means pain?
Pain involves a perception of other-ness. God is a complete union -- with no other-ness -- and there is no pain/perception. It's One; it's bliss, the Eternal moment of Creation, etc. There's no pain. The only time we have conscious pain is when we're not consciously participating in Creation within us. Pain can't exist when we are in God. Do you understand what I'm saying?
Yes, I do. I just wanted you to define that part. It's like the dichotomies set up the angst.
Yeah ... right, in the duality there is a tension. Not being with God is angst, anguish, and pain. Ironically, Absolute Love allows you to choose anguish, if that's what you want to be your primary focus. Love will reflect the mistaken thinking back on the thinker (Karma), but it will not fight the individual. It is only a question of how long you want to be a masochist; how long do you want to be separate and in pain.
