It's the long road I've chosen Winding in and winding out Of the answer around which we all dance And I believe That my journey will lead me home To the heart of my seeking It's all distilled from the timeless moment Out of which anything can happen It smells like herbs and apple cake Or the morning as I walk through the forest Smelling the dirt and the dew and fir needles The river rushing in the distance It might have been the time When the threshold of my consciousness Practically disappeared and I saw past the illusions Which tend to hold us and I could have been anywhere But I knew you were forever and beautiful And I asked what you wished for me You wished for me a sweetheart and children And implored me to hold fast to my vision Because the greatest thing of all, you said Can never be mentioned And you told me that to find myself I must lose myself And here I am... You'll never believe where I've been and what I've done You won't believe the reasons I've been gone You couldn't know that you are always in my prayers And I daily ask blessings for the world And I ask it all through you You'll never believe... but I'm sure you knew. |
